Once the Bodhisattva ( the Aspirant Buddha ) was born, Prince Pancayudha ( the Prince of five-fold weapons ). He was adept at wielding weapons. When he was returning to his kingdom, after completing his studies at Disapamok Acariya, he had to travel through a thick forest. A ferocious demon names silesaloma lived here. The Prince challenged him and shot fifty arrows at him. All arrows hung in the demon’s bod hair without harming him. The Prince attacked him with his sword. The sword too stuck in the demon’s hair. Next he attacked him with his cudgel. Even the cudgel did not harm the demon. The Prince’s hands. Feet and head all clung to the demon’s hair. Without harming the demon.
The Pince told the demon. “If you ate me, the crystl weapon concealed within my body, will cut your inner body into pieces. Then both you and I will die together”. The Prince, of course, referred to the weapon of wisdom, Within him. The demon got frightened and freed the prince. The prince, preached Dhamma to the demon, and made him tread the path of righteousness. The prince returned to his kingdom and duly became king.

He left his Kingdom, and took to the life of a wandering ascetic. After long years of ascetic life, he died and was born in the abode of Brahma.

Once The Bodhisattva (The Aspirant Buddha) was born Prince Vessantara. Immediately after being born, he stretched his hand asking for something to be given as a gift. In his childhood, Prince Vessantara, give all his costly ornaments to his wet nurses. When he grew up into youth he married Madri Devi and became king. They had two children son Jaliya and daughter Krishnajina. When he was king representatives of Kalinga Kingdom. Where there had been no rain for a long spell. Came to king Vessantara and asked him to donate them his suspicious Elephant. That had the Power to create rain. King Vessantara gave them the elephant.

The people of the country became angry at that and he was sent into exile in the wilderness. There while he was practicing uasterities, with his queen and two children. An old Brahman called Jujaka came and asked the two children as a gift. The King gave them to the old Brahman. The chief of gods? Determined to test the king’s generosity came in the guise of an old man and asked that the queen be given to him. The king gifted the queen. The chief of gods, revealed his true identity and gave back the queen to the king. The two children were eventually rescued by their grand father and king Vessantara was brought back as king. For seven months he perfected generosity.

A female elephant by the name of Chulla Subadra, became jealous of the king elephant and dicided to take revenge of him, when female would be born as a princess. Recalling her past birth, she decided to destroy the king elephant. She informed her husband the king that she desired very much to possess two tusks of the elephant king.

A forest chief, an able hunter-Sonuttara was sent to the wilderness to bring back the tusks. He laid a trap and wounded the king elephant. The Bodhisattva elephant himself, willingly donated his tusks to the Hunter. He brought the tusks to the queen. The realizing the gravity of the crime she committed, died of grief.
